Kiosk / Store issues

Should you be unable to rent / return a DVD from a kiosk or store, please contact our customer support team. Generally we can resolve technical issues remotely, so you won’t have to wait too long before your RedRoom is back up and running.

Damaged DVDs

Unfortunate fact is that DVDs can acquire dirt, scratches and sometimes a little pizza as they age. If you have a problem with a DVD playing properly you may firstly wish to try to clean it. Use a soft lint-free cloth and wipe gently in a straight line from the centre of the DVD, outward to the edge. Only clean DVDs with a solution of water and a mild detergent or basic rubbing alcohol. Never use abrasives, solvents, or highly acidic cleansers.

Failing this, please call our customer support team who can make arrangements with you.

Other FAQs

Well this is new. What the hell is it?
Welcome to RedRoomDVD. We operate stand-alone DVD rental kiosks and full service automated DVD rental stores across Australia. At a kiosk you can rent the latest release DVDs for just $2.95 overnight simply by using a Master Card / Visa credit card. There is no pre-registration or memberships required - just approach the machine and start browsing

Our stores are staffed during busy periods and are generally open 24/7. Stores have thousands of New Release and Weekly titles available for rent across both DVD and Blu-Ray. They also sell ex-rental DVDs, snacks and drinks. At stores you can either simply use a Master Card / Visa Credit Card or you can fill in a Membership Application and buy Rental Credits - particularly useful if you don’t have a Master Card / Visa Credit Card.

To get started we suggest you Join Up and then locate your nearest RedRoom location to start browsing and reserving DVDs.

Has the website changed?

Absolutely - good pickup! This new site makes it super easy to find your local RedRoom and browse and reserve DVDs online. We love getting feedback on our new site and suggestions on what we could do better - click here.

If you are a member of a RedRoomDVD full service store you may notice that your store is using a different software platform. Over time, the store based systems will be upgraded so the online reservation functionality will be fully integrated with this site.

Do I need to join up?

Not if you don’t want to. As long as you have a valid Master Card / Visa credit/debit Card you can use a RedRoom kiosk or store.
If you don’t have a valid Master Card / Visa Credit/Debit card you can join up at one of our full service stores by filling in a Membership Application Form and showing proof of age. Membership is free of course.

When do you add new DVD titles?

Every RedRoom location is updated with the latest DVD titles every week.

Can I return my DVD to any RedRoomDVD?

DVDs rented from a stand alone DVD kiosk can be returned to any other stand alone kiosk nationwide - yes rent and return anywhere!

If you have rented from a full service store you will need to return your DVD to that store at this stage.

How do I return a DVD?

At a stand alone DVD kiosk, press the “Return DVDs” button and insert one DVD at a time. Make sure the DVD is in the case (just as you received it) and the barcode is visible and facing upwards.

At a store, you will have to swipe the Membership Card or Credit Card used to rent the DVDs to be able to return the DVD.

Why do you ask me to rate the DVD when I return it?

OK, so this is very cool. When you return a DVD we ask you to rate it out of 10 stars and we use these ratings for two purposes;

1. We average all user ratings to assemble the Top 10 list on the homepage of “The Best” DVDs. This is a great list to scan when looking for something to rent.

2. We use the ratings data to build a profile of what types of movies you like. Over time we will start to suggest movies to you that we think you will like based on what you have rated highly in the past.

What if I don’t return the DVD?

No big drama. If a DVD has not been returned within 14 days of rental you will be charged the Replacement Cost and can keep the DVD - we call it “Keep it, you’ve earned it?”.

For a DVD movie the Replacement Cost is $35, for a Blu-Ray the Replacement Cost if $45 and for a single disc of a Television Series the Replacement Cost is $65(for more information see terms & conditions).
